aug 30th. anthro wall

about a week and a half ago, i was able to paint a focal wall in the Anthropologie where i work, -AND i was given free reign to paint it in my style, too!! :) the visual manager and display coordinator said that they were given guidelines of the feel that they needed to create in the display (wispy and soft with spots of solid color, even pushed a little in the direction of referencing "Ethnic" prints; and they said it reminded them of the way i paint..). we used house paint in bright purple and blue, light grey and a sunflower yellow-all mixed to different degrees with white for variation. the visual coordinator added some really beautiful, vertical lines in chalk to mimic the drips and movement of the strokes i'd gotten to make-the chalk lines really draw the whole wall together and add interest to it..when you see it from far away, when you first walk into the store, it looks like shimmering, moving colors; and as you get closer, it reminds me of how different shades of iridescent color reflect and move within rain drops (with shaded sunlight and darkness against them.. etc, etc). i'm so excited because that prominently located backdrop (for different, changing displays), will be in our store into next year after holiday season's passed! yip!!!

yay!
