i've been in the hospital the past few days so i haven't been able to do any art since the beginning of the week :/ (i was dehydrated, it was really scary but im ok now, thank goodness)...i'm still working on my new painting, ill post updated pictures of it soon. im going to submit it to my favorite art magazine right now, its called Origin, its from the houston and dallas area..BUT is going fully national with this next issue. i thought itd be cool to make a purple painting because it was my absolute favorite color growing up but hasnt been a color that ive touched at all since then, (revisit what id loved about it for so long), and it's my birthstone color for february :).....and i hope that it gets in the february edition of that magazine ha

this is a photographer that i really like, sean fitzgerald. i love his Trinity River Project work (the Trinity River/Bridge is located just outside of downtown Dallas). i absolutely love his compositions and i think a lot of his photography is filled with a lot of emotion

worked on the painting more.....it's pretty murky right now...well to be honest i kind of hate the colors and they make me sick but they'll be good foils to the more intense colors i'll add on top of them soon.


i didn't say anything about it before, honestly because i wasn't sure if i'd be offered an opportunity with them or not, but today i interviewed/had a meeting with the founder of a company in uptown, dallas called The Art Menu aaaand.... i am thanking God because he said he and his advisory board saw me as 'an artist on the rise'!!!! .. and wait! wait for it! they want to have me on their site!!!!!!! ahhhhhh! they only have a handful of artists on their site -and plan to keep it that way in order to keep as much integrity in inventory as possible, so this is UH-mazing. they sell glicee prints of artists' work (usually paintings), so i'll have prints of my work sold! plus it is awesome exposure not only from their site on its own but they also have ads in design magazines and they feature the different artists on facebook each month. here's a new painting i'm working on. it'll probably be a while before it's finished but it's starting to move in that direction

the HYPE02 show is TONIGHT! 8pm at 1725 Kelly Ave, Dallas Tejas!!!!
it's in the old Dallas Power and Lighting Building downtown/deep ellum so it's going to be a really beautiful and large space to have a holiday art show/auction :) woop!

Mark Bradford is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhh!!!!!! his work makes my heart hurt.
you know id be obsessed with an artist's work that's described as painting with collages....
he is incredible. so freaking talented.

i didn't even know about him when i went to see the Gaultier exhibit last week and when i was walking down the museum hallway on my way to it and.. "WHAT?!!!! WHO is that, WHAT is that! ahhhh!"

it's really great because he also explains his points of view and the process of making his work, from where they originate, etc. (i especially love how he calls making a piece like being in a relationship-the uneasiness at first, the growing excitement, in love, the couch potato phase, the fighting and being upset, being emotional, etc. and resolution-hopefully a good one. ya, i go through the emotional phases pretty much everyday w making my own stuff, ugh, it is exhausting but i guess its a good sign to be that way if he's like that, too)

...anyways, on my little end, i've found a new small gallery that has some pretty cool paintings in it, i won't say which one so i dont embarrass myself (more) but im going to set my sights on it! we'll see what happens, fingers crossed! yip

also, decided on the pieces that will go in the HYPE show also, I'll post pictures of them soon, the organizer of the show says he believes they will each sell. oooohh pleeeaaase lets hope...
